I’ve put this post here after having a torrid time with my Bosch WVD24520GB washing machine over Christmas. The thing seemed to wash and spin but upon commensing the drying stage it brought up an “F17″ error approximately 1 minute through the drying process. After spending hours looking for ways to fix the problem online I was amazed to see that nobody knew how to fix it.

After spending hours cleaning filters, changing pipes and checking for kinks (as per the manual), I found out that my machine was just within Bosch’s 2 year warranty. Phew. I do however feel for the people who have encountered this error who are out of warranty as it took the Bosch engineer no less than 5 call outs to fix the problem.

After replacing the pump, valves and numerous removals of fluff from the condenser/sump, it strangly turned out to be the control unit on the front. Once this was changed the thing works like a dream.

Hopefully this helps someone. Please note the machine was washing and spinning fine and only had problems during drying – if you are having the same problem then replacing the control unit and valve using parts from a site like espares should fix the problem.
